Project FloatingAbode Diary

25 April, 2000

For various reasons, I haven't been able to get much done recently. I'm not too bothered because it gives my wallet a little time to recover!

Since the launch:

I have noticed that it is easier to regulate the temperature

I fall over more as the boat now moves

It's lighter inside with the reflections off the water

It's quieter inside with the damping effect from the water

Whenever I open a side hatch, swans swim towards me intimidatingly looking for food

I get fewer passers-by asking questions

There's a longer walk to the nearest toilet

The only real work I have been able to do was to put the other two tonnes of concrete slabs on board (!), finish off painting the baseplate and lay the ballast properly on blocks between the floor bearers. Before and after shots follow:

I have also tidied up the design for the nameplates (see graphic on main page), ordered a tarpaulin to make a tent under which to store wood, ordered the paint for the outside (similar colour to background on main page), and ordered more floorboards and some of the hull lining plywood. That's all for now - next update possibly after the weekend.
