Project FloatingAbode Diary

19 March, 2000

Well, I made some progress over the weekend. I was hampered by forgetting to bring things to the boat and by some deficiencies in my selection of tools. I am also being hampered by a particularly busy period at work (I had planned to take time off to get everything off to a good start). Basically, I need to get the battening in and arrange for the spray foam insulation to be applied before the April 8th launch. That shouldn't be a problem but with the way things have been going recently.... Anyway, after that, I can relax a bit.

There is some movement on the subject of names. I had already decided to give it an Irish name because of the Paddy's day delivery date and I have now almost decided on the name:

uisce

It is Irish Gaelic for water and is pronounced 'ishke', although you'd probably guessed that already... ;-)

Here's some pics showing the battening starting to go in. More time lapse photography here and again, I'll make it into an animation when I have time:

And finally, the rooflight holes taped up with the rooflights themselves in the foreground:

I suspect that the next update will be towards the end of the week...
