Project FloatingAbode Diary
11 March, 2000 Things are still hectic but I'll try to add a little info to the pictures this time: Forward cabin bulkhead in place. Just visible through front doorway is the aft bulkhead. Nice Reeves bow details now complete, note bow locker... ... and me in it! As this is a gas free boat, the bow locker is empty. As I wanted to make provision for a bow thruster tube, the bow locker goes down to the baseplate with a watertight bulkhead sealing it off from the rest of the boat. Front well deck - the patio garden of the narrowboating world... ... and again, me in it. Gunwales awaiting cabin sides. My portholes! Fixed 18" double glazed Channelglaze portholes. First impressions: v. smart. Really like 'em - so neat. Skin tank (equivalent of a car's radiator) makes its first appearance. Some idiot demonstrating where the beds are going to be... Rear watertight bulkhead. This stops the boat filling up with water if the stern tube leaks. Looking under the rear deck: Weed box on left, diesel tank at the back. Shiny pressure test plate confirms no leaks. Weed hatch open. Weed box, stern tube, and swims visible. Watertight bulkhead again, this time showing how it forms an enclosure for the electric motor. Tidy rear deck. Mooring post. Diesel fill cap and eyelets for attaching the rear fender. The three boats currently in the shed (mine closest). Just out of shot to the left is the embryonic aft section of a fourth boat. |
